Versailles - Blaise et Benjamin (1998)

The fourth and final album from this French band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and French vocals.

The cover art-work makes this album out to be a thrash/death metal album. It is not and the cover art-work is not fitting the music.

I have reviewed their first three albums and they have all been French symphonic prog albums.

Blaise Et Benjamin is no difference. We get some very complex French symphonic prog.

Most of this album is pretty operatic and bordering to being an opera. The four songs is pretty long and complex. The music is indeed very eclectic.

Most of the time when it comes to French symphonic prog, I add Ange as a reference. The exception is this album as it is so far out eclectic that King Crimson is a more fitting reference. That and neo-classic/opera music.

The music is indeed very complex and not so easy to follow.

The keyboards sound is very good and ditto for the vocals. The sound could have been better.

I have really enjoyed their albums and this album is no exception. This is indeed a good album and worth checking out.
