Jade Warrior - Waves (1975)

The fifth album from this British band.

Jade Warrior is a duo on this album with a lineup of acoustic guitars and keyboards.
The duo had some help from guest musicians who provided electric guitars, drums, moog, saxophone, flute, piano and vocals.

The first three Jade Warrior albums did not instill any confidence in this band. The classic Floating World album from 1974 changed all that. Ambient prog at it's best.

Jade Warrior follows up that album with Waves.

Waves is an album in the same vein as Floating World. Hazy landscapes with lots of ambience.

I thought this was going to an all out ambient album. I was wrong.

There are two compositions here. Each of them around the twenty minutes mark.

Waves I is a pretty gentle ambient piece of music with some Japanese classical music. It is a very good composition which has a lot of interesting details.

Waves II is full of details and very much submerged in Japanese sounds and classical music. Nice flute and lots of interesting details here. There is even some voices here.

Waves is indeed a very good album and well worth checking out.

3.5 points
