Professor Tip Top - Hybrid Hymns (2019)

The fifth album from this Norwegian band.

The band was a quartet on this album with a lineup of guitar, mellotron, organ, minimoog, bass, synth, drums and vocals.

I very much liked their previous album Life Is No Matter from 2017. A good psych album.

The band has moved on since that album and has changed course.

The band has indeed lightened up their sound and become very much a Pink Floyd copycat on this album.

You get long parts on this album with space rock Pink Floyd'ish music which is so obvious inspired by the masters that you just have to scream out the two words PINK FLOYD.

Other parts of this album is also pretty poppy and indie pop like.

In short, the band has taken their foot of the accelerator and gone for another audience again. A more mainstream audience.

There is still enough details to make it decent to good prog. But there is not enough and the songs are not good enough. A bit of a shame. Nevertheless, it is well worth checking out this band.
