Hawkwind - X In Search Of Space (1971)

The second album from this British band.

The band was a sextet on this album with a lineup of saxophones, audio generators, synths, bass, drums, percussions, guitars, flute and vocals.

The band continued on from their classic debut album.

Gone is the pop though. The raga-rock elements has also gone. It has been replaced with a much more sonic landscape. All out space rock in fact.

The music mostly all out space rock with a lot of audio effects. But is not very avant-garde. It is method in this madness.

The music is pretty dark and bereft of organic life. It still got a lot of soul, ice-cold as it is.

There are some organic stuff here though and the flutes and saxophones adds a lot of that. Ditto for the vocals.

The music is really primitive and barbaric though. Like barbaric black metal at times. Although not that fast.... But this album is as raw as raw meat.

This is not as good as the debut album. It is still a good album and one well worth checking out.
