Tootscats - Jason Clause (2014)

The one and only album from this Russian band.

The band was a trio with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, oboe, flute, keyboards and vocals.

The band had help from two guest musicians who provided double bass and violin.

The band comes from Saratov, a town on the Volga river, the longest and biggest/longest river in Russia. Stalingrad/Volgograd is just down river from Saratov.

The music on this one hour long album is what we can call eclectic.

Take some Russian folk, add jazz, Canterbury prog, Frank Zappa and add a lot of Gentle Giant to the stew.

The vocals are in English and the songs are pretty short too.

The vocals are really good and ditto for the sound. The songs are pretty decent and this album scores pretty high when it comes to weirdness and originality.

Check out this album.
