Mystery - Theatre Of The Mind (1996)

The debut album from this Canadian band.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of synths, bass, drums, guitars, glockenspiel, percussion, keyboards and vocals.
The band had help from strings and woodwinds too.

I am doing a review of all the Mystery albums this fall and I am starting with their debut album. The others will follow.

Mystery is a band with a very good reputation these days after a couple of critically acclaimed albums. Albums I will review in due time.

Their music on this album is a mix of US symphonic prog, neo-prog and progressive metal. It is like Kansas meets up with Dream Theater. There is also some AOR here.

The vocals is really really good and the rest of the band also does a good job.

The songs on this thirty-six minutes long album is not that long. What is lacking in quantity is what we get back in quality.

The songs are on the more commercial and soppy side of the spectrum. It is still a good album well worth checking out. I think me and their other albums will be good friends too....
