Year One - Year One (1971)
The one and only album from this US band.
Year One was a quartet with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals.
The band was a very short lived band who self-released this double LP album and then disappeared without trace........
This album has resurfaced again thanx to the internet, Youtube and Progarchives. I am not sure if the surviving band is aware of that or what they think about it.
This sixty-four minutes long concept album, whose concept I do not know, contains a mix of everything. From funk, west coast psych to US hard rock to progressive rock and country'n'western. Everything you can get from USA in other words.
Every tone you can find in USA, to be more precise. It is a bit of everything and not so much an album or a band who focus on one genre.
They are spreading themselves a bit thin here and the quality of the music is not good. It is a bit of a frustrating listening, to be more precise. There are some interesting ideas and melodies here and there. But they are short and not so sweet.
This is a decent enough album and well worth checking out at Youtube. Hence the rating....
