Molly Hatchet - Molly Hatchet (1978)

The debut album from this US band.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums and vocals.
They had help of three guest musicians who did keyboards, percussion and bass.

This is the debut album from this once so popular band. Very popular in USA, that is.

Their music lives and breathes U S A .

This thirty-six minutes long album contains a mix of country'n'western and southern rock. In these days and time, some call this Americana. Maybe it is.

There is some Led Zeppelin and blues influences here too. The music also boogies pretty hard.

The music is not as hard as I expected. This album was sold to me, 30 years ago, as a heavy metal album. So I bought it and became very disappointed.

It has some catchy tunes though and I am not surprised to learn that it got platinum status in USA.

It is a decent enough album and a snapshot of that USA culture back in 1978. It is not a bad album at all, even these days.
