Nektar - Megalomania (2018)

The 14th album from this British band.

The band was a quartet with a lineup of drums, guitars, keyboards, bass, percussion and vocals.
The band has been helped by a violinist and backing vocals.

Nektar was dead and gone after Roye Albrighton passed on after the last Nektar album. But his son Che got a new band together and called it New Nektar. Me and other forums only call it Nektar and add it to the Nektar discography.

Right or wrong. But I see this is a new Nektar album and a new era of that band. The fact that the band also consists of old Nektar members also helps my decission.

Whose Nektar is showing up this time ? The old legendary psych band or the new AOR band ?
Unfortunate, the latter one.....

The band gives us three quarters of an hour worth of a mix of AOR and pub rock. The music is pretty similar to what another fallen great is doing these days; namely Wishbone Ash.

The music is pretty heavy and pretty straight forward. The songs are lacking a lot quality. This is an OK album and a decent one. But it is not a good album and I would suggest some more freshness and fresh sounding songs next time......... or a return to the old psych band Nektar.
