Iliad - Sapphire House (1978)

The second and final album from this US band.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of drums, percussion, bass, guitars, flute, English horn, oboe, grand piano, electric piano, synths and vocals.

Their debut album is a bit of a hidden gem in the scene and I was wondering if this too was the case with Sapphire House.

In short, I could not wait until I sunk my ears and head into this album.

We are again getting piano and electric piano based fusion.

There is some vocals here which is used as an instrument rather than as is meaningful vocals.

There is also a lot of pastoral, ambient music here. Some of it is not working too well.

Most of this forty-five minutes long album is really good and it is a shame that this band only released two albums.

Iliad is one of those lost bands.... lost gems.

Check out this good album.
