City Boy - Dinner At The Ritz (1976)

The second album from this British band.

The band was a sextet on this album with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals.
The band was helped out by some xtra musicians who provided steel guitar, bass, piano, saxophone, fiddle and vocals.

I was pretty happy with their self-titled 1976 debut album. Hence, I was looking forward to this album.....

The album gives us forty minutes of a mix of rock, pop and some sort of country, folk and art-rock.

Well, art-rock it is.

The music is pretty well structured and has some good details. There are also some good hooks around and sporadic good attempts of melodies.

The vocals are good and the album is well orchestrated at the right places.

The problem with this album is that there is no really good songs here. The album meanders away without really creating any excitements.

I am a bit let down as it is said that this is their masterpiece. This is not my impression of this album.
