Passport - Blue Tattoo (1981)

The 11th album from this German band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of saxophone, vocoder, keyboards, bass, guitars and drums.

Klaus Doldinger had reverted Passport back to the lineup which worked very well on the first four albums.

The first four albums included some pretty intense fusion in the vein of Mahavishnu Orchestra. And they were good albums.

Passport is indeed a pretty underrated fusion band.

The intensity has slackened off a bit on this album. But we still get fusion with mostly jazz on this album.

The great solos is no longer here. This album is mostly laidback.

It still throws a punch though and the music is fairly good.

It is perhaps too laidback. But this is still a good album and one I like.
