Walfad - Colloids (2018)

The fourth album from this band from Poland.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of bass, drums, mandolin, guitars, keyboards and vocals.

I have reviewed two for their first three albums in # 1 of this blog. You can find these reviews there.

I cannot say I was particular impressed by their neo-prog back then. But I am giving them another chance.... Mainly because I like to find out if the band is more to my taste now than on previous occasions.

The music is still neo-prog. Neo-prog in the Polish vein of neo-prog.

The sound is really warm with some AOR and folk influences. Not to mention symphonic prog influences. There is also a lot of German neo-prog influences in this music too.

The vocals are really good here with a raspy, americana feel. There are also some very sporadic female vocals here who adds value to this album.

The seven songs on this forty minutes long album has indeed some very good details and stuff. This is indeed a charming, good album which has brought a lot of good out of this band.

It is perhaps not a clean shaven neo-prog album. It is still a good album, though. Check it out.
