Anubis - Homeless (2020)

The sixth album from this Australian band.

The band is a sextet with a lineup of drums, bass, guitars, keyboards, piano, organ, clarinet, percussion and vocals.

This is the sixth album from this band who has released their six album on an infrequent basis. The first album was released back in 2009.

We are again in the middle of neo-prog land. The outbacks of the neo-prog land, that is.

Well, not that so much outbacks as in the middle of the scene.

The songs here are melodic and not so long. They have some progressive metal influences too. Some of the songs are pretty heavy.

The vocals and the guitars are good. The rest of the musicians does their best too.

There is not much excitement and good melodies to be found here. It feels like the band is threading water and has stagnated a bit.

Nevertheless, this album is delivering the goods to the neo-prog crowd. I have my slight reservations as the songs are not good enough.

2.5 points
