Super Freego - Pourquoi Es Tu Si Méchant? (1982)

The one and only album from this French band.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of bass, guitars, woodwinds, keyboards, drums, percussion and vocals. Both male and female vocals.

The band is as rare as a Zeuhl band.

The music is unmistaken zeuhl, indeed. There is a lot of references to Magma here, indeed.

The vocals are in French and the music relies very heavy on the jazzy end of the zeuhl spectrum.

The female vocals gives their music a lot of light. Much more light than the normally very dark zeuhl you will find in Magma and some other bands.

There is a lot of woodwinds and jazzy guitars here. The bass is not as dark as on most zeuhl albums. It is still there and it is unmistaken zeuhl.

The music is pretty hyper and caffeine stained throughout this album.

The music is very funky and jazzy throughout. It is also pretty infectious. It can lead to movements of limbs and head from the listener.

It is a shame that this is the only album from this band as they were up to something good on this album. It is indeed a good album and one to check out.
