Wonderland - Seven Wonders and Four Little Miracles (2017)

The debut album from this Swedish band.

Wonderland is a quintet with a lineup of guitars, keyboards, drums, bass and vocals.

The band released an EP eight years ago and then they disbanded. They returned again some years later, wrote some new songs and expanded this EP to an album.

The art-work gives a pretty precise indication about what we have in wait on this album. Pretty hard AOR and progressive metal.

That said, they sounds a lot like the British band Threshold. I have never ever heard a band who has copied Threshold as much as this band.

There are also some other influences here. But most of this album is all about progressive meta with some AOR influences. There is also some heavy metal influences here.

The vocals is good and the rest of the band does their best on this seventy-two minutes long album too. It has to be said that this is not the most exciting album I have heard. I am not a big fan of progressive metal. Progressive metal fans would lap this album up like a bear surrounded by honey pots.

Nevertheless, this album has some good stuff inbetween the progressive metal cliches. Hence my rating.

2.5 points
