Shaman Elephant - Crystals (2016)
The debut album from this Norwegian band.
Shaman Elephant is a quartet with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals.
This band comes from Bergen, the second largest town in Norway. It also has the most thriving music scene in Norway. Lots of black metal bands came from Bergen. And lots of prog and psych rock bands now comes from Bergen. Even Sigrid, the new pop sensation comes from Bergen.
Edvard Grieg also comes from Bergen, btw.
Shaman Elephant plays a mix of psych, space and hard rock. The music is very heavy and fuzzy at times. It is also pretty melodic. It is also an album looking back to the 1970s classic rock scene.
The heavy stuff is still melodic and very flowery hippie. The music is very colourful with some wonderful guitars and some great vocals. The keyboards is also a joy to behold.
The opening track, the title track, is a great track. Great sound and very heavy and melodic.
The rest of the album has a lot of variations.
Most of all, the tracks are really great. Well, most of the six tracks. There are greatness in every tracks on this forty-five minutes long/short album.
This is indeed a great album and a great find. Check it out.
