Inner Ear Brigade - Dromology (2016)
The second album from this US band.
Inner Ear Brigade is a sextet with a lineup of saxophones, guitars, keyboards, bass, drums and female vocals.
The band has been helped out by tabla, keyboards and trumpets.
I reviewed their 2012 album Rainbro for # 1 of this blog back in September 2015 and liked that album a lot. You can read my review here.
The band is listed as an avant-garde band in some blogs and websites, including ProgArchives. That is correct.
Their brand of avant-garde is in the very melodic end of that spectrum and genre.
Inner Ear Brigade gives us eclectic laidback jazz with female vocals. Cool female vocals which adds a lot of colours to the melodies.
The songs have an avant-garde edge with trumpets and saxophone adding some horizontal notes.
The result is a very inviting and very good three quarters of an hour long album. One album I will visit again and a band I really like. Check out this album.
