Som Imaginário - Som Imaginário II A Nova Estrela (1971)

The second album from this Brazilian band.

Som Imaginario was a sextet on this album with a lineup of organ, flute, bass, drums, piano, guitars and Portoguese vocals.

I reviewed their 1970 self-titled album last month and was not too impressed by it. You can read my review here

The band has finally discovered flower power and goes fully flower power on this album. That too means a lot of the weirdness of Gong too.

This album is a fully psychedelia flower power album with a lot of weird melodies. But also a lot of decent stuff too. The melodies are on the pastoral side with a lot of vocals and choirs. It is weird anno 2017, but very normal anno the end of the 1960s. I got lots of albums like this one.

Anno 1971, this album is far too late and by far outdated. But South America had their own sound, their own music and their own culture back then. Still has, btw.

The vocals and the musicians are good. Ditto for the sound. The music is decent enough without really being good. This album is still different from their debut album. Check out both albums if this sounds tempting.
