Habelard2 - Maybe (2017)

The third album from this Italian band/project.

Habelard2 is the solo project/vehicle of the Ad Maiora keyboardist Sergio Caleca. He does all keyboards and everything with one or more keys attached to them.
He has help from numerous guest musicians who provides guitars, bass, drums, viola and vocals.

This album is a bit of a strange one which demands some explanations from a reviewer like myself (or yourself if you purchase it).

The music here is some sort of symphonic prog. But there is also some fusion and some vocals based neo-prog rock here too.

Over to the strangeness..... The album starts with a long piece of symph prog/fusion performed mainly on keyboards supported by guitars.

Then the album moves into some neo-prog with lots of vocals. Very good vocals. The keyboards and the guitars is here too. The music is a bit laidback with some slightly jazzy rhythms and melodies. Good stuff.

At the end of the album, the album reverts to keyboards and guitars driven instrumental symphonic prog again. That with some fusion too.

The middle part of this one hour long album is vocals based and the first and final parts is instrumental symphonic prog.

The music is good throughout. All three parts in fact. It is a bit of a strange album. But it floats the boat and no complaints from me at all. One or two killer tracks is sorely missed. But it is still a good album.
