Eye 2 Eye - The Light Bearer (2017)

The fourth album from this French band.

Eye 2 Eye is a quintet on this album with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and male English vocals. The band also has some help from guest musicians providing viola, cello, violin and extra male and female vocals.

To my big surprise, this is the only album I have got from this band. I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to progressive rock from France. This band's first three albums has somehow slipped through my fingers.

Eye 2 Eye gives us fifty-five minutes of pretty operatic and conceptual neo-prog here. Neo-prog which is crossing over to symphonic prog on a regular basis. Well, this album is basically a symphonic prog album with the neo-prog sound.

Eye 2 Eye does not sound like Ange here so they cannot be compared to them. But the mood and the music is pretty heavy here with strong vocals and soaring guitars and melodies.

Three of the songs are crossing the ten minutes long mark. The other ones are also long. This is not a light hearted poppy neo-prog album, then.

The lack of any great songs are my only gripe here. Nevertheless, this is a very good album which I am sure will delight any neo-prog fan.
