Trio. El - La Blanca Y La Gris (2009)

The second album from this band from The Dominican Republic.

El Trio is a quartet with a lineup of percussion, drums, woodwinds, guitars, bass and Spanish vocals.

I reviewed their 2007 debut album one week ago and you can read the review here.

That album was a mix of most things. Too many things, in my view. I am therefore happy that the band has cleaned up a bit and discarded some of the clutter from their music.

Their music is much more jazz and fusion than before. The vocals is a bit all over the place. But the music itself has taken a lot from Latin jazz and is indeed in that genre.

Latin jazz with a lot of funk and some fusion, that is. There is also some more Latin pop here too.

The music is still noisy and as friendly as an active volcano, spewing out magma and stones in all direction.

There is some melodies here though and they are rather good. I am not sure if this album is where the band want to be. I will review their third album too and see where this band was going.

This album is somewhere between decent and good, though.
