Cirkus - Wild Dogs (2017)

The debut album from this Canadian band.

Cirkus is a trio with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, percussion and vocals.

This album is a self-released double CD with a running time of two hours and twenty minutes. That is long for a debut album.

Two of the members here played in a local prog band and some of their material is included in this album.

An album which comes across as a mix of Pendragon and Genesis. A mix of symphonic prog and neo-prog in other words. It is more leaning towards symphonic prog than neo-prog, it has to be said.

The vocals is not good at all. It feels a bit singing crows. Some of the material is not that interesting either.

Nevertheless, most of this album contains some good symphonic prog. Two hours and twenty minutes is one heck of a mouthful though and there is no great songs here....... The music is a bit sparse on instruments too.

Nevertheless, this is a good album well worth checking out.
