Schnauser - Irritant (2017)

The sixth album from this UK band.

The band is a quintet with a lineup of saxophone, keyboards, bass, guitars, drums and vocals. Both male and female vocals.

I had the restrained joy of reviewing their fifth album, the 2014 album Protein For Everyone back in April 2015. An album I liked. You can read my review here.

Schnauser plays some strange music. Art Rock is what I would label them as.

Take a lot of jazz, add some Canterbury prog and some pop music. That is when you get their music.... sort of.
There is some Gong in their music and some Italian avant-garde RPI too. The B 52s also springs to mind.

The music is very quirky and a bit pop music orientated. Quirky pop music. The saxophones is everyhwere. Ditto for the vocals.

Quirky is the word here and the world is a bit upside down on this album. The melodies are upside down. The music is still melodic.

The songs are not really that good on this album. They are lacking a bit in the quality department. Nevertheless, this is still a decent to good album which is well worth checking out.

2.5 points
