Non Newtonian Man - Clouds 2017

The debut album from this Italian band.

The band was a sextet with a lineup of bass, piano, keyboards, guitars, drums and English vocals.

There is a lot of new prog rock bands coming out of Italy. Some of them are upholding the RPI traditions from the 1970s and those classic bands. Other bands again goes in another direction, the Anglo-Saxon neo-prog and heavy prog tradition.

Non Newtonian Man has chosen the heavy prog and neo-prog path.

The music here is both heavy and melodic. The keyboards sometimes offers up the classic Hammond organ sound. A rich wholesome sound. There are a lot of Rush and Yes references here.

The vocals are good and ditto for the rest of the musicians. The sound too is good.

There are two long opuses here between fifteen and seventeen minutes long. They are good opuses. The other shorter songs are good too.

"Good" is the word here. The album never really sets the world on fire. This seventy minutes long album.

This is an unspectacular good album with good handicraft and tonnes of potential. Check it out as this band may become a great band in the future.
