Dai Kaht - Dai Kaht (2017)

The debut album from this band from Finland.

Dai Kaht is a quartet with a lineup of guitars, bass, drums and vocals.

The vocals are in Kobaian, the language invented by Magma. We are here talking zeuhl.

There is not many zeuhl bands around. Not even new zeuhl bands. They are extreme rare and and we have to applaud everyone who takes up this genre and makes an album. To my knowledge, Dai Kaht is the only Finnish, indeed the only Scandinavian zeuhl band.

We get forty minutes of zeuhl here....... some sort of zeuhl. There is also a lot of post-punk, jazz and avant-garde on this album. This band was mostly influenced by Ruins before Magma entered their lives.

And that is what we get here. Ruins and Magma influenced zeuhl. It is a bit atonal and groovy. The bass is dissonant and some of the guitars are atonal.

The music is good throughout and the band is full of potential. There is no great songs here but this is still an album well worth checking out.
