Esperanto - Esperanto Rock Orchestra (1973)
The debut album from this multi-national band.
Esperanto is a 12 piece big orchestra with a lineup of cello, saxophone, guitars, bass, drums, piano, flute, viola, keyboards and vocals. Both male and female vocals.
The lyrics are in English, strangely enough. Esperanto is the language who were constructed as an alternative to English and the other world languages. Read more about it here.
The band is multi-national where most members has contributed with their own countries music. A good idea.
Unfortunate, these contributions are all pop music based. Pop music from the 1970s. I can say a lot about pop music. But the 1970s was not it's finest decade. And each country "competed" in having their own pop music scene. The worst pop music scene imaginable.
The music on this album has got a lot of orchestration and a big sound, supporting female and male vocals. The music is overblown pop with some rock influences.
This forty minutes long album has a couple of decent songs. But it is not an album I will remember with fondness. Hence the rating.
1.5 point
