Acqua Fragile - Mass Media Stars (1974)

The second album from this Italian band.

The band was a sextet on this album with a lineup of mandolin, percussion, guitars, bass, drums, piano, keyboards and vocals. English vocals, that is.

I had the joy of reviewing their debut album some weeks ago and I really liked that album. A good album indeed. See my review here.

Bernardo Lanzetti, who became the PFM vocalist shortly after, is still the vocalist here and he does a good job. The other musicians here also made it good with other bands as Acqua Fragile took a long break and were disbanded after the release of this album.

The band sounded like a Genesis ripoff on their first album. They continues down the same path on Mass Media Stars.

There is a lot of early, very early Genesis here from the first two albums with Peter Gabriel. Both in vocals and music wise.

But the band has developed a lot too and has incorporated a lot of Yes too in their music. There are really some technical stuff here too. And low and behold.... there are even some Jon Anderson like vocals here too. Gosh !

Fans of both Genesis and Yes will be well served and taken care of by this forty minutes long album. The music is not great. But this is still a good album and one to really enjoy.
