Subterra - Cautiverio (2005)

The third and final album from this band from Chile.

The band was a quintet with a lineup of drums, keyboards, bass, guitars and Spanish vocals.

This is one of the pretty many neo-prog bands who has emerged from this South-American continent during the last forty years.

The album starts out as a prog metal album though and this is where we will find this music indeed.

There is still a considerable amount of neo-prog here. But most of this album has this metallic edge.

The vocals are fairly good and the sound is OK.

There is no denying that the music on this forty-five minutes long album is pretty dull though. The band never ever moves away from the safe prog metal formula. There is no sparks of inspirations here.

In a world of the samey sounding music, this album is distinctive dull and uninspiring. Hence my verdict and my lack of enthusiasm for this album.

1.5 point
