Umit! - The Testament Of Umit! (2018)

The second album from this German band.

Umit was a quartet with a lineup of guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and vocals.

The band released their debut album some years ago and has just followed up that album with this album.

The band plays psychedelic rock with some space rock influences. Well, a lot of space rock influences.

Some may say this description sounds like krautrock. In this case, it is not. There is none of this krautrock humour and madness here. This is straight forward and clean psychedelic rock.

The sound is clean and there is a lot of good guitar solos and keyboards harmonies on this album. The vocals are bearable. Ditto for the bass and drums.

The music is also bombastic in the beginning before it cleans up at the end of this album. There are also some good details here.

Fans of psych and space rock will find a lot to be joyful about on this forty minutes long album. A good album indeed. I have my reservations. Those reservations is the lack of any really good tracks.  The music is also a bit too restrained and not dirty enough. This is a decent to good rating which does not really hit me at home.

2.5 points
