Esp - 22 Layers of Sunlight (2018)

The second album from this multi-national band.

Esp is a quintet with a lineup of bass, keyboards, guitars, drums and vocals.

Esp has members from Phil Collins band, Procol Harum, Bram Stoker, The Cult etc etc.
The band called themselves Esp 2.0 on this album. But it is still Esp so I do not care.
The other big difference is that there is no guest musicians on this album. This album is a band effort and it sounds like a band effort too.

I reviewed their debut album one week ago and very much liked that album. You can read my review here.

The band continues down the same path as on their debut album. That means some moody, dark neo-prog with a lot of Van Der Graaf Generator and Marillion influences.

The music is gentle though, although dark and melancholic. The neo-prog is in the Polish vein of neo-prog.

There is no great songs on this one hour long album. Nevertheless, all fans of melodic, stylish neo-prog should check out this album.
